PTN

The Parent Teacher Network (PTN)

The PTN provides a vital network of communication between school and home. It supplies an opportunity for parents and faculty to grow together while keeping the students’ interest of utmost priority.

The object of the PTN stated in its constitution is toward “the advancement of Catholic Education and the welfare of all the children of the parish school.” It futher states, “to act in the promotion of interest in school and community affairs. Furthermore, it shall attempt to enhance the parents and teachers to work together with mutual respect and concern.

The PTN must be supported by our parents. Only through your willingness to volunteer will our goals be met. We ask for cooperation from all mothers and fathers by volunteering for at least one event or activity. Since the PTN hosts various programs and raises funds which benefit our children throughout the school year, it is only through you and your support that they are able to benefit through community building.

The St. Kieran PTN meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm and is open to all parents and teachers. We hope you can join us as we are open to new ideas and suggestions.

The PTN utilizes funds which contribute to teacher wish lists, recognize staff birthdays and holidays, contribute to curriculum needs and purchase materials for school use such as learning software for the lower grades. We also contributed to the Kindergarten graduation, 7th-8th grade dance and covered bus expenses for field trips.

The PTN also hosts various programs and raises funds that benefit our children throughout the school year. These programs include Mardi Gras (our largest fundraiser) which provides entertainment, Cajun food is served, and elaborate gift baskets are raffled. Last year’s profit from this event was approximately $9000.00. This enabled the PTN to spend $4000.00 on lab tables for the science lab used by grades 4-8.

The PTN also sponsors the MATH/SCIENCE club for 2nd-5th graders which meets after school. The young students take part in exciting experiments while learning the basics of math and science and have fun at the same time.

Warm Regards,

The St. Kieran PTN Team
